Yr8 Science focus week ran from 06-10th November. The focus to engage pupils outside the classroom with ‘fun’ science workshops and show pupils the relevance of science to local industry was the target. All Yr8 got involved with visits to the local Lough’s Agency, Invista, fun chemistry workshops at lunchtime , rocket making, balancing act workshop and rat dissections. A ‘Bug’s Life’ microscopy session and Sports Science in the gym also was on offer.

Twelve of our senior girls were willing participants in a ‘Women in Engineering’ site visit to E & I Engineering at Burnfoot, Co.Donegal. First was a presentation in the boardroom, for an overview of the many roles and opportunities offered in the business. Then came a site visit to both the ‘Powerbar’ and ‘Switchgear’ floors – a remarkable workplace.
