Year 13 pupils enjoyed a very informative session delivered by Conan Meenan on the facilities, courses and entry requirements for Ulster University. It was especially interesting to hear about the excellent investments made in the last few years. In particular, £11 million has been spent on new facilities for growth sectors such as IT (Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics) and Engineering at Magee.
Conan also explained their links with Allstate, including a new state of the art computing lab at Ulster University’s Magee campus. In addition, Mrs Hand brought a number of Year 13 students to C-Tric (Research Centre), where they were informed about courses at Magee, such as Personalised Medicine.
All Yr10 pupils attended a ‘Choosing Science’ event today hosted within our science department. Pupils were inspired by a wide range of science ambassadors from the local community who presented their experiences to the pupils, ensuring they are more informed with subject and career choices taking place later this year. Career paths into pharmacy, stratified medicine, software development, environmental based careers, bioinformatics and ‘The Royal Navy’ engineering based careers were all represented.

A massive thanks to Pat from NI water who spoke to all of Year 8 - 10 highlighting the importance of water as a resource and raising awareness about the damaging effects of single use plastics on our waterways. To help, all of our pupils will receive a refillable water bottle over the next week courtesy of NI water.
