Women in Engineering

Twelve of our senior girls were willing participants in a ‘Women in Engineering’ site visit to E & I Engineering at Burnfoot, Co.Donegal. First was a presentation in the boardroom, for an overview of the many roles and opportunities offered in the business. Then came a site visit to both the ‘Powerbar’ and ‘Switchgear’ floors – a remarkable workplace.

Junior Badminton Cup

Massive congratulations to Kyle who defended his Junior Badminton Cup at the Champion of Champions event in Lisburn. Kyle has won this event for 5 years in a row.

A special mention has to go to Ellie, Emma and Robert who all played very well. Robert made it to the Semi-Final, a tremendous achievement considering he was playing against Year 10 pupils within the Minor event.

Dr Martin Stern

We were privileged to welcome Holocaust survivor Dr Martin Stern to Foyle College.  He addressed Year 11 - 14 History and Year 14 Religious Studies students.  All pupils were then given the opportunity to engage in a question and answer session where Dr Stern candidly described his early life in Nazi occupied Europe.
This was a chance for pupils to look beyond the facts and figures of their History and Religious Studies lessons, and to truly appreciate the effects of the Holocaust on ordinary human beings.
We are very grateful to the Executive Office and The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust for facilitating Dr Stern's visit.  His tour of local schools is part of a wider project which will culminate in a Holocaust Memorial Day event in the Millennium Forum on 25th January 2018.
