Old Girls Hockey

The Old Girls’ team showed the depth of sporting talent that has passed through Foyle College in recent years, by putting on a master class this afternoon. Captained by Hannah Lawther the squad looked like a team that play together regularly. It was great to see so many of our former players making the effort to come back and play against their old school. The fact that Megan Frazer took to the pitch upped the stakes somewhat! Partnering Coral Lapsley in the midfield, they provided a steady supply of balls that tested the Foyle defence. Ebony Leckey made some superb saves in goal, however, it was difficult to keep Camilla Lyttle, Esther Hume and Lara Dingley off the scoresheet. The Foyle girls played some good hockey and enjoyed the challenge of playing against such experienced, skilful players. Mrs Robinson and Miss Moore showed that they have not lost their touch and enjoyed lining out alongside the young ones!

Thank you to all the spectators who created a great atmosphere for all the players and to our coach, Alex Tinney, who umpired.

Final score 4-0 to the Old Girls!

At present  funding comes from whatever small surplus is made from our social events throughout the year and from the generosity of the school.  Our social events are designed at best, to make a small surplus but at least, to break even.  Your committee felt that it was inappropriate to increase the costings of these events and potentially discourage attendance.  There was unanimous agreement amongst the members of the committee that the Former Pupils Association could not continue to rely on financial support from the school.

So where does that leave us?  Again, there was unanimous agreement that the FCFPA should remain free to its members.  However, we must have some way of generating an income.  To that end we propose a voluntary annual subscription of £25 for those who wish to pay.  This will be collected by Standing Order - a form is available from download link  or available from the school Bursar.  I stress again that there is absolutely no compunction to pay and it is only for those who feel able and willing to support the association in this manner.
