It was an honour to be involved in the regional event to mark Holocaust Memorial Day in the Millennium Forum on Thursday 25th January. At the event victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides were remembered through poetry, music and the reflections of survivors.
Our Head Girl, Erika McClelland, who is also a Holocaust Educational Trust ambassador gave a speech about our links with Edith Birkin. Edith is a Holocaust survivor who attended Londonderry High School. She has published a book of poetry and art about her experiences during the war.
Our Head Boy, Matthew Austin, read Edith Birkin's poem "Roll Call".
Work by Foyle pupils was displayed, alongside Edith Birkin's artwork, in the foyer of the Millennium Forum and a copy of her book was presented to the school by fellow Holocaust survivor Dr Martin Stern.
