This year we were delighted that 127 KS3 pupils recognised the importance of tackling bullying and submitted entries for the NIABF competition ‘What bullying means to me’; we are even happier that a short animation by Mark and Tom McLaughlin of Year 9 has been awarded top prize in the movie section and the boys winning entry, will be used in school all across Northern Ireland.
Well done to Kyle Magee who won the Champion of Champions badminton event in Lisburn today. Kyle put in an excellent performance to retain the trophy.
Foyle College Londonderry CCF have been selected from the 276 CCF Contingents throughout the UK to represent the CCF at Act of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London. Foyle College CCF was formed in 2000 from the remnants of a school ACF Detachment and began life with 11 cadets, now increased to 100+, The Contingent draws RN Section recruits from Lisneal College and other local secondary schools.
Since the announcement in August there had been much activity preparing uniforms and practising drill to ensure that we put on a smart appearance, and some (male) cadets had even their haircuts! The party participating was limited by the organisers to 28 cadets and 2 Adult volunteers but the Contingent made the most of the weekend by travelling on the Friday morning to Gatwick and spending the afternoon visting many famous sites not to forget Sir John Lawrence of Punjab statue situated at Waterloo Place. We managed to get some retail theropy in which we then followed with a Meal in Frank and Bennys for all. We were to stay at an ACF Centre near Clapham Junction so a short 15 minute train ride from Waterloo took us to our accommodation.

http://www.nuffieldresearchplacements.org/There are opportunities for their students to obtain placements and potential financial support in the form of bursary.Placements are available across the UK, in universities, commercial companies, voluntary organisations and research institutions.Nuffield Research Placements are administered at a regional level by a network of Nuffield coordinators.
We particularly encourage students who don't have a family history of going to university or who attend schools in less well-off areas. We make sure no-one is excluded on a financial basis by covering students' travel costs. Some students may also be eligible for a weekly bursary in addition to travel expenses. Your regional coordinator will be able to advise on eligibility.
