Congratulations to our sixty-seven Key Stage 3 pupils who have been selected for publication in the upcoming Young Writers’ “Stranger Sagas” collection. With over 40,000 entries nationally, it was essential that each of their 100 words were chosen carefully!
We are sure you will agree that each of our budding writers deserve recognition and we cannot wait to proudly showcase their published work in our new Library!
It was an honour to be involved in the regional event to mark Holocaust Memorial Day in the Millennium Forum on Thursday 25th January. At the event victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides were remembered through poetry, music and the reflections of survivors.
Our Head Girl, Erika McClelland, who is also a Holocaust Educational Trust ambassador gave a speech about our links with Edith Birkin. Edith is a Holocaust survivor who attended Londonderry High School. She has published a book of poetry and art about her experiences during the war.
Our Head Boy, Matthew Austin, read Edith Birkin's poem "Roll Call".
